Citywide Group Runs to Support Boston

Join Philadelphia Runners on a Special Boston Memorial Run Tmw THU 4/18

(This week’s regular THU night (4/18) Trail Run is canceled !)

There will be a special run tomorrow night (Thursday) in Center City in memory of those deceased and in honor of those injured in Monday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon.  Runners will meet at City Hall at 7:30 and then run together to Independence Hall. Runners can either meet at City Hall or participate in feeder runs starting from different points in the city.

The Philly Runner store in Center City is organizing this memorial event and all information is posted on the Philly Runner web site:  philadelphiarunner.com/citywide-group-runs-for-boston-marathon/

This memorial run will be held instead of the Wanderers’ usual Thursday night trail run in the Wissahickon.  Chris and Polly are helping to arrange the Wanderers participation in this event.

Here is are some of the closest  meeting points for some of the feeder runs:

  • Bryn Mawr Running Company Manayunk (4320 Main St). *MEET AT 6:30
  • West Philly Runners (45th and Locust)  Meet at 7:00
  • Fairmount Running Company (2023 Fairmount Ave )  7:00

Meanwhile Wanderer Randy Clever who ran in the Boston Marathon was interviewed on Action News last night:  abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=9067703

The Wanderers had a large contingent up in Boston, all of whom returned safely, but some of whom were witness to the bombing. The Wanderers send out their sympathies to all families affected by the bombing.
