Wanderers Sign Impressive Recruit
December 2001

Rob Foster brings much needed style to the Wanderers operation.

In response to woeful performances this past year, the Wissahickon Wanderers have announced an impressive new signing. Rob Foster comes to the Wanderers with impeccable credentials.

Rob built up a formidable reputation as a fell runner when he ran for Chorley Harriers in his native Northern England. But what really impressed Wanderer recruiters was that he played for many years in the youth and reserve sides for the Blackburn Rovers of the English Football League. Playing as a sweeper, Rob distinguished himself by being sent off six times in his career.

Upon being signed by the Wanderers, Rob was immediately issued a yellow card for not showing proper respect for the two Wanderers sanctioned soccer teams, Arsenal and Ipswich Town.

The only flaw in Rob’s resume is that he is a supporter of the fascist Manchester United Football Club, a failing also of Wanderer Leslie Turchetti. Both are scheduled to undergo rehabilitation programs at Wanderers’ expense to cure them of this predilection.

Rob, who currently is concentrating on cross-training as a ski instructor at Vail Ski Resort in Colorado, is expected to make his Wanderers debut either in the Calistoga to Santa Cruz relay in the fall of 2002 or in the Colorado Rocky Mountain relay in the fall of 2003.
