2011 PHILADELPHIA TRACK PENTATHLON

(3000m – 200m – 1500m – 100m – 800m/400m)

Hosted by Greater Philadelphia Track Club – Sanctioned by USA Track & Field

Each runner will compete in 5 track races (3000m–200m-1500m-100m-800m/400m), with a minimum of 35 minutes recovery time in between. Athletes choose either the 800m or the 400m for their fifth event (800m heats will run first). With an equal mix of sprints and distance events (order as above), this challenging (but fun!) competition pits sprinter against distance runner to determine the best all-around track runner. This pentathlon builds camaraderie like no other contest as competitors huddle together trying to recover prior to the next demanding race. There is no requirement that you must do all 5 races, but you will have more fun if you do!

2011 PHILADELPHIA THROWS TRIATHLON

(shot Put-discus-javelin)

Hosted by Greater Philadelphia Track Club – Sanctioned by USA Track & Field

Each thrower will compete in the shot put, discus, and javelin to determine the best all-around thrower. There will be two flights, with a maximum of 16 throwers per flight. Flights will be determined based on recent performance – not by gender or age. Four throws per implement (bring your own implements). Implements will be weighed before competition to ensure proper specifications for your age and gender. The order of events for one flight will be Shot Put-Discus-Javelin, while, due to time constraints, the other flight’s order will be Discus-Javelin-Shot Put. If you have a preference of flight, we will try to accommodate you. There is no requirement that you must do all three throwing events, but you will have more fun if you do!
