On Sunday, June 22nd 2008 seven Wanderers ventured up to Reading, PA for more Ron Horn trail race madness. The Wanderers are by now an intimidating fixture and a force to be reckoned with at these hardcore trail events.

This time it was the Double Trouble 15k or 30k. Not that any of us are “slouches,” but the 30k (2 loops) just didn’t appeal to anyone that morning although we could say we all thought about it . . . briefly. Though rain threatened that morning, the day actually turned out to be pleasantly comfortable with low humidity–a rarity for this notorious race. All in all, the Wanderers enjoyed frolicking through the woods & made it through the event in triumphant fashion (no debilitating injuries!).

Brian McKenna lent his services as #1 “athletic supporter,” cheering the runners in to the finish line. Out of 220 15kers, Erik Johnson finished in an impressive 12th place in 1:19:02, picking up a 5th place age group award. Polly Jansen came in 29th & snagged a 2nd place age group award. Debra Resnick, building up more mileage & hardware finished 108th & 3rd in her age group. Anita Zalewski (who actually started the race on time this year!) showed how it’s done finishing 153rd in 1:50:40. Tammy Leigh, aka “Dimples” (actually written on her bib #!), aka “Dr. D” Dement, brought all of her identities with her finishing 177th in 1:55:57. Maureen Mignogna strode in valiantly finishing 183rd in 1:56:43.

Congrats to all the Wanderers on another great performance!
