The decision has been made. We
are going for it!! The Wanderers have signed up
for the USATF off-road running series in 2008. The Wanderers
line-up so far is as follows:

The first event in the eight-race series is coming up on February
17, the feared Ugly
Mudder. The rest of the schedule is:

with Barb Gorka's brilliant
performance last year!

It is never too late to sign up. In fact,
more Wanderers are needed for our team. The older the
better!! Also, speed
is not a factor!! The USATF selects the top five performances
from each team. However, one member has to be a woman, and
one has to be a Master (40 or over). Right now, we
are a little short of veterans, and would welcome any additional
master runners. Wanderers
signing up need not perform in the whole series. A commitment
of just a few of the races will suffice.
Chris Verry and Polly Jansen will once more be managing the Wanderers
squad. They did a great job last year, and have been pressed
back into service for 2008. The Wanderers ran stride for stride
with some of the Delaware Valley’s best teams last year until
we ran out of gas in the fall cross country runs. Wanderer
Bob Reynolds was a star last year during the series, but due to commitments
from previous years, he runs with the prestigious Philadelphia Athletic
Charities team.
To count as a performer, you must join
the USATF midatlantic organization,
which costs about $30, and simply identify yourself as a Wanderer. You
can also sign up right at the race site. For more information,
