Movers Set Record
The Maplewood Movers broke the record in their October 17
walking a mile and a half during a workout at the Morris Arboretum.
The movers are only supposed to go one mile during their weekly
walks. But a combination of being inspired by the Morris Arboretum
surroundings and Rock Steady losing his bearings and getting
lost, the movers put in an extra half mile.
Even though the movers had been rained out the previous week,
they came out strong at the Morris Arboretum. They walked
right past the cafeteria and got out immediately onto the
trail. The weather cooperated this week with a calm slightly
overcast day.
Making up the group were J.C. Parker, Robert Mobley, Hugh
Reilly, Sue Nagy, Mike Egenolf, Oscar Boyd, Robert Banks,
Trish Farkas, Rock Steady, Clarence Rowe, J.C. Parker and
Nidhi Krishnan. Just past the Arboretums rose garden,
the two Roberts, Clarence, Sue, Hugh, and Rock decided to
make their breakaway and extended their walk. With a few wrong
turns, they ended up walking a mile and a half. In the process,
a few of them checked out the Fernery.
The walk was made official by the pedometer used by Hugh.
A mile and a half is going to be a tough record to beat in
the eight week walking program!
Hugh Reilly's pedometer tells no lies...a
mile and a half walked! |
Robert Mobley did not even work up a
sweat over the mile and a half. |
