Everyone a Winner at Just Run 5K

The Just Run 5K on April 4 turned into a supreme test of character. The race was held at the infamous Belmont Plateau cross country course in Fairmount Park. Having to run up Parachute Hill, Suicide Hill and Flagpole Hill twice would seem to be a sufficient test of the runners' resolve.

However, then the weatherman decided to get in the act by producing drenching rains, buffeting winds and dropping temperatures. Conditions could only be described as nightmarish.

Twenty-one intrepid runners answered the call, and prevailed through the brutal conditions. Craig Bridlow was the actual winner in the event completing the 5k course in 20:28 followed by Chris Moore in second in a time of 21:13. Top finisher among the women was Wanderer Stephanie Pederaf in a time of 25:29.

The race was sponsored by the Equal Justice Foundation at the University of Pennsylvania Law School with the Wanderers and the Fairmount Running Club assisting.

Craig Bridlow also won first place in the male law student division. Top female law student was Leanne Woods who completed the course in 25:56. In the faculty division, Chris Sanchirico came in first in a time of 24:15.

Leslie Turchetti and Dave Thomas did a great job directing the race despite the horrendous weather conditions. They made it look like business as usual. The Fairmount Running Club and Wanderer Matt Palombaro were fantastic out marshalling the course, and seemed to have a good time despite getting soaked.
