Philadelphia Runners Can Now Vote With
Feet
For those who wish to voice their displeasure
against the current government administration and get some
exercise at the same time, here is your chance. Run Against
Bush is a national organization established to protest the
Bush administration, and it now has a Philadelphia chapter.
Run Against Bush in Philadelphia is being
organized by Shira Rudavsky. The group, which started its
first Jogs Against
Bush in January 2004, plans on meeting for
a walk or run on Monday evenings at 6:30 starting from Lloyd Hall on Kelly
Drive, as well as Saturday mornings at 11 am in the same
location.
The national organization Run Against Bush has established
chapters throughout the country. The organization’s
homepage is www.runagainstbush.org.
Walkers as well as runners are welcome. |

According to the website, Run Against Bush
is a grassroots volunteer organization focused on motivating
people to run in road
races and informal runs all across
the country as a way to voice their dissatisfaction with the Bush administration.
Interested persons can purchase a Run Against Bush t-shirt for $25 through
the website. In addition, runners can obtain sponsors to
raise money for the upcoming
election.
"We might not be able to raise 10K,
but we can run 10K!" said Shira
Rudavsky. "This is such a great way for people to meet, talk and make
our opinions known."
Rock Steady has already purchased his t-shirt.
"Normally, exercise and politics are two separate matters," Rock
said. "But this administration is just so downright mean-spirited
that this situation is the exception."
"I know that politics is a very personal
thing, so people can do whatever they want on this issue," he added. "But
personally I am manning the barricades."
