Race Report – 3rd Annual Chestnut Hill X-Country Race

Sept. 18, 2004 – Flood conditions did not hamper the spirits of the 62 runners who came out for the 3rd Annual Wissahickon Wanderers Chestnut Hill Cross Country Classic. Even though the course eventually turned into a mud puddle, Bob Rimkis turned in a fine performance, winning with an impressive time of 16:49, followed by local cross-country stalwart Chuck Shields, who came in at 17:00. Springfield High School’s Faye Korich defended her winning title from last year, finishing first for the women with a time of 20:03.

Several Wanderers turned in fine performances, including Matthew Palombaro, who finished fourth overall (17:22), Randy Clever (21:03), Michael Branca (21:09), Stephanie Peteraf, who finished second for the women (21:52), and Melanie Wright (37:01). Congratulations to all!

Lastly, a big thanks goes out to all who helped administer the race, especially Paul Hines, Chris Moore, Pat, Leslie Turchetti, and all of the timing officials.
