Wanderers Look Sharp
in Distance Run
The results from the 2006 Philadelphia Distance
Run September 17 reads like a Who's Who of Wissahickon
Wanderers. More than 10 Wanderers ran in the half marathon
and some of the times posted were, quite frankly, fantastic.
Newcomer Matt Joosse led the way finishing 219th in
the field of more than 11,000 runners in a time of
1:22:52.
Chris Moore must have set some type of record by finishing
in 1:26:28 while using the distance run as part of
a four hour training workout!!! Chris has developed
a new running format where he runs before and after
the race to add in more mileage!! Phil finished in
about 1:27.
Polly stepped up to the big time with a 1:33:03 finish,
and was the 102nd woman. Monica finished in the top
100 with a time of 1:32:04, but we already knew she
was great! Newcomer Karen Tani also excelled finishing
in 1:36:46, good for 959th place.
Chris Verry finished 603rd overall with a time of
1:32:01. Randy and Adam followed up strong performances
at the New York Half Marathon by posting 1:39:11 and
1:43:13 times respectively. Randy, by the way, was
22nd in the 55-59 mens age division.
Paige Soltany has been very quietly picking up the
pace this summer and recorded a fantastic 1:46 time,
and Stephanie Peteraf checked in with an excellent
1:46:50.
Megan and Sharon showed how tough they are by finishing
in 1:53:55 and 1:59:22.
Carnage was timed in 2:05:45, Dennis in 2:12:35, Scott
Quitel in 2:09:03, Ken Evans in 2:10:03, NAYLZ in 2:13:05,
Jill in 2:21:27, Maureen in 2:28:26, and Melanie in
2:53:04.
Great support was provided by the Falls Bridge by
the Great One (and her famous cow
bell), Jim and Petra,
and along the route by Babs.

Wanderers and to
talk with her dad.

The lead runners
in the women's division were fast!
It's not easy providing support. Jimbo got a flat tire!
