VirginiA Beach : Rock n' Roll 1/2 marathon
Labor Day was a working holiday for some Wanderers. Chris
Verry,
Polly, Dawn and Wendy traveled down to Virginia Beach to run in the
Rock n' Roll Half Marathon on September 3. Don't be mistaken. This
trip was not all work. There was ample time for partying. But once
out on the road, the Wanderers did a great job.
Chris finished in
225th place out of more than 116,000 runners in a time of 1:30:05.
He was followed by Polly in 1:43:14. Polly, by the way, was the 161st.
woman.
Wendy did great finishing in 1:55:23, and Dawn beat more than half
the field with a 2:17:06 finish.
Wendy submitted the following field report to Wanderers Headquarters.
"Very fun as we battled down thru Ernesto with flooded
roads on Friday , I then stubbed my toe so hard on the back of
Chris Verry's shoe that I broke it (my pinky) but we all still
ran and got to the finish line in one piece. Great venue for
music. We saw some amazing bands such as Blue Oyster Cult and
Better Than Ezra, Joan Jet, 3 Doors Down, etc.!"
