The Tyler Arboretum 10k trail race was the 2nd race in
the USATF Off-Road Series. On Saturday, April 7th eight Wanderers
entered this event to experience ambling through the trails of beautiful
Tyler Arboretum and to continue the team's terrific scoring
streak! It was a day reminiscent of January temps, but the
Wanderers handled the "rolling hills," (which were
actually pretty steep) and water crossings (which Randy somehow
successfully navigated without getting his feet wet) with precision!
Leading the charge was Chris Moore with a time
of 42:02 (2nd in age group) and 11th overall. Following in a pack
were Chris
Verry with 46:13 (3rd in age group) and 22nd overall. Doug
Dubrosky two places behind in 24th in 47:32, and Sharon
Schmidt-Mongrain in her Wanderers debut finished 2nd female
overall with a time of 47:37 and was right behind Doug in 25th. Barbara
Gorka ventured down from her new digs in chilly NY & ran
a 49:12 (1st in the women masters category), followed by Randy
Clever with 51:34 and Polly Jansen with
55:44 (2nd in age group). Wanderer star Bob Reynolds finished
in 15th place in 43:15, but he is on loan this season to the Philadelphia
Athletic Charities team. Overall, the Wanderers turned in another
great performance and solidified their third place position in
the USATF road series standings behind the Rosemont Running Club
and the Philadelphia Athletic Charities teams and ahead of the
Pineland Running Club. A special "thanks" to
Sharon's husband, Christian for taking some
great action photos!!

Randy has been beset by injuries this winter,
and Tyler
Arboretum was his first race of the year. He looked
sharp!

Looking good, Sharon!
