Please consider volunteering for an hour or two this Saturday 4/4, starting at 10 am. Perhaps after you finish your Sat morning run at VGI…
Phil, Jan and Dan will be working at Clifford Park, which is only a few blocks away from Wanderers headquarters (and is technically part of the Wissahickon park). Volunteers will be there to restore a bird sanctuary along Wissahickon Avenue and to work on the popular sledding hill (“Tommy’s Hill”) next to the historic mansion.
Fairmount Park and the Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers (organizers of the Trail Classic) are providing 130 trees and shrubs for us to plant. So no need to say we are in dire need of volunteers to help pull vines, remove invasives and otherwise prep the area for planting.
The Friends of the Wissahickon is getting in on the act too. Dave D. will be there with the mighty “SK” (their mini front loader that doesn’t mind prickly bushes and roots). Together, we should be able to put a good dent into the project this Saturday and prep for the future sessions and planting.
Please contact Phil or Jan for additonal information…or just show up on Saturday. Directions and details can be found on this web page »
