The Tyler 10-K photos are posted here. Story coming soon.
The embattled Wissahickon Wanderers travel to Tyler State Park on Saturday, April 4, for the second leg of the USA Track and Field off-road series, the Tyler Arboretum 10-k trail race.
The Wanderers performed impressively, and in some cases even outstandingly (if there is such a word) at the first USATF event, the Ugly Mudder trail race on February 22. But all their efforts went for naught because the team’s entry fee had not been submitted on time. The Wanderer performances, including Sharon Schmidt‘s amazing first place finish in the women’s division, were not counted in the team results. After the fee had quickly been submitted, USATF hardliners then rejected Wanderers pleas for mercy to have the Ugly Mudder results counted in the team totals.
The Wanderers are now firmly entrenched in last place in the USATF series with 0 points, but the club appears ready, willing, and able to begin the long uphill climb to respectability at the Tyler cross country race. The Wanderers Technovan (see below) is again available for transportation and has even been given a rare wash and vacuuming.
The Tyler Arboretum course has gotten rave reviews from runners especially in the early spring with trees just beginning to bud, and the flowers starting to bloom. Race info can be found here » Please contact Polly and Chris if you would like to join in. Just make sure to sign up for your individual membership with the USATF (details »). Without signing up, your score will not be posted in the USATF results. We know this from experience! Places are available on the Wanderers team regardless of speed and ability. All aboard!!
The Tyler Arboretum should be beautiful during the race.
